Future Works
While I was at the Instituto Virgen de la Esperanza, which I studied at parallel to the Training Centre, during the course I designed a piece of furniture with the specification to be 'flat-pack' or easily assemblable. As such I made multiple components, a lot of flat areas and incorporated dowels for construction into the CAD.
I designed a Bar Unit with a lot of Japanese influence.
The lower support/foot of the unit is inspired by a bridge design. however I knew that the weight needed to be properly distributed as such there are 45 dowels in a 15 x 3 configuration inbetween the two leaves. I have tested Similar sized Dowel and have found that they can easily support 50kg-70kg each, thus the cabinate could theoretically support inbetween 2250kg-3150kg. Judging by the size, the Cabinet and upper shelf can hold aprox 10-12 bottles of alcohol, resulting in there abouts 12-15kg of weight. The glass, shot cups and wine glasses will probably add an extra 10kg at worst, making a max weight of 25kg. The structure was to be made out of MDF of 18mm, thus giving the structure ridgidity as well as a smooth surface for painting. It would take aproximately 2 or 3 sheets of 18mm MDF, at a weight of 29kg per sheet, gives it a total weight of just shy of 90kg. |
The rear shows a shelving unit for glasses, and a lower cupbord for the bottles. The upper has a Wine glass holder and an upper shelf, for more bottles or glasses as necessary.
The product was to be painted in the style of the Japanese Bridge and Gateway. Red and Black Two-Tone Paint job with Gold Highlights.
