Video games
I have two different props from to different video game. The first being the Buster Sword and the other bring the Kingdom Key
The Kingdom Key, from the Kingdom Hearts series of games is an oversized Key, held as if it were a sword. It has no other defining characteristics and I made it because someone challenged me that I could not. I do realize how petty this must sound but to a builder, a challenge is not an impossible task. It is a puzzle which we must think around.
This prop is incompete due to it suffering from poor structural integrity. The arm does not have much support to the handle. Perhaps by using a long dowel, drilled through the Bolster and into the Arm would help. However, trying to drill vertically into the end of a dowel is perhaps the most challenging prospect that a carpenter or propmaker has to face, as such until I have adequate tools, equipment and experience, I shall let this project sit on the back burner, till I can finish it.
The last of my inprogress projects is perhaps my favorite that I dont want to finish. It is The Buster Sword for the Final Fantasy series of games. This is perhaps a jewel in my collection regardless of it 'uselessness'.
This Blade with its obscene size and weight, suffers from issues of structural integrity like the Kingdom Key. The bolster of Pine which clamps around the Plywod is too weak to properly hold the weight. Due to it being useless, I have decided as of yet to not finish it. perhaps at a later date I shall finish it for wall mounting.
It can simply be reenforced by drilling and afixing with epoxy 2 steel bars, from the lower part of the bolster into the blade. This will release tension on the Pine Bolster allowing me to walk with it, without worrying if the whole prop will snap in half.
